PETALING JAYA: The 14-year-old girl who was raped several times at different areas of a school over the past three weeks was not romantically linked to any of the seven suspects detained by police, said a source in an orphanage where she lived.
The source, who insisted on remaining anonymous, said the victim and the suspects were just classmates.
“She is quiet and religious,” said the source.
Asked about the girl’s background, the source said:
“Her parents passed away and she was brought to the orphanage by an unknown person.”
The source said the victim had been with the orphanage for five years, adding: “She goes to school with 13 to 16 other children from the orphanage by van.”
Gombak deputy OCPD Supt Rosly Hassan said police were interviewing at least five more classmates who are said to have knowledge of the rape.
He added that the seven arrested and remanded were the main suspects in the case.
“We have recorded the girl’s statement in hospital and will conduct a video interview at Bukit Aman to record her official account of the rape incidents,” he said.
Supt Rosly said police would also record a statement from the doctor who had examined the girl.
Asked to confirm if the girl was indeed pregnant, Supt Rosly said police were awaiting the full results of the medical.
On Monday, the orphan lodged a police report claiming she was raped by a classmate during recess at her school in Rawang last Tuesday.
Police detained a suspect at the school several hours later.
Doctors in Selayang Hospital were shocked to find the girl one-month pregnant and discovered a pencil inside her private parts.
The girl had complained of pain whenever she urinated and said she did not know the 4cm long pencil was inside.
It was also learnt that she was raped several times at several locations in the school – canteen, field and classrooms – over the last three weeks.
Six other classmates of the victim were subsequently detained over the sexual attacks and remanded for a week.
